The Greenwood City Council is the legislative body that governs the city of Greenwood. The executive power is held by a Mayor who is elected by the people every four years, along with the seven council members. The City Council generally meets twice each month at the City Hall.

The City Council heard from Joe McCall about services provided to the public schools. Resolutions to amend the zoning ordinances were tabled due to the attorney being absent. The Council finally approved the 4 Way Electric Company's tax exemption. The Council voted to hire Deveda Dillon, a county election commissioner, as a technical advisor to assist the city election commission to conduct the upcoming city elections. David Jordan cast the sole vote against the resolution.
