The Greenwood City Council is the legislative body that governs the city of Greenwood. The executive power is held by a Mayor who is elected by the people every four years, along with the seven council members. The City Council generally meets twice each month at the City Hall.

The Council heard a presentation regarding the establishment of an Entertainment District in the Main Street District. Roxanne Hall presented information about the negative effects of Common Core Standards on her grandchildren and other students in the Greenwood Public Schools. The regular hearing on dilapidated properties was held.
