The Greenwood City Council is the legislative body that governs the city of Greenwood. The executive power is held by a Mayor who is elected by the people every four years, along with the seven council members. The City Council generally meets twice each month at the City Hall.

The Council heard a lengthy presentation from Mike Slaughter about the annexation process. Jelani Barr addressed questions to the council regarding the hiring of Butler-Snow to defeat Sheriel Perkins' election contest against the Mayor. A report on recycling was received. Various appointments to boards and commissions were approved.
