The Greenwood City Council is the legislative body that governs the city of Greenwood. The executive power is held by a Mayor who is elected by the people every four years, along with the seven council members. The City Council generally meets twice each month at the City Hall.

The Council heard from the architects about progress on the renovation of the police station and courtroom. A citizen, Martha Lacy, complained about disruptive youth in her neighborhood. Hospital administrator Jim Jackson presented a request to purchase some properties near the hospital for future development. The Council approved the nomination of Greenwood businessman Randy Clark to the Board of Trustees of the Greenwood Public Schools.
