The Greenwood City Council is the legislative body that governs the city of Greenwood. The executive power is held by a Mayor who is elected by the people every four years, along with the seven council members. The City Council generally meets twice each month at the City Hall.

The Council made a presentation to Senator David Jordan for his many years of service as a city councilman. Naomi Jones came to the council regarding the need to finance interior repairs to the library. The Council authorized the placement of a memorial to Emmett Till on the Rail Spike Park. The Council authorized an emergency payment of $10,000 to the humane society. The Council went into executive session to discuss industrial prospects.
