26% failure rate for Greenwood Public Schools 3rd grade reading exam

Friday, the State Department of Education released the pass/fail rates of all the public schools in Mississippi, and the Greenwood Public School District had just over one fourth of its 3rd grade students failing the reading exam.

Statewide, 14.8% of the 3rd graders failed the reading skills test.

But in Greenwood, the failure rate was 26%.

BANKSTON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL - 8% failed
DAVIS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL - 25% failed
THREADGILL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL - 30% failed
W C WILLIAMS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL - 47% failed

Leflore County Public School 3rd graders performed even worse, with 32% failing the reading exam.

Carroll County Public Schools had a 19% failure rate.
