School Board Chairman owes $33K in delinquent property taxes

Friday, January 8, 2010, 4:29 pm News Flash Archive

Yesterday, The Taxpayers Channel obtained public records from the Courthouse showing that Greenwood Public School Board chairman Margaret Clark owes over $33,000 in delinquent property taxes, fees, penalties, and interest as of yesterday at 3 p.m.

Clark's property has been sold at tax sales at least once and sometimes twice because she has failed to pay these taxes before the deadline. Note that 7 months grace period after the deadline is given before the property is actually sold.

Mrs. Clark is the person whom David Jordan and others think should be re-appointed to her position of managing the $28 million annual public school budget.

Clark votes to levy taxes against the rest of the property owners in Greenwood, but she doesn't pay her own property taxes on time.

In addition, of course Clark also owes the 2009 taxes, but they won’t be delinquent until February of this year.
