According to information from city hall, the council increased its pay from $13,440 per year to $16,500, a 22.7% increase.

David Jordan and Johnny Jennings voted against the pay increase; Charles McCoy, Ronnie Stevenson, Carl Palmer, and Tennill Cannon voted for it. Lisa Cookston was absent.

Only David Jordan spoke out publicly against the increase during the meeting.
