At this afternoon's Board of Supervisors meeting, supervisors voted 4 to 1 to remove the state flag from the courthouse.
Robert Moore made the motion, with Robert Collins seconding it, with Anjuan Brown and Wayne Self joining them. Phil Wolfe cast the lone vote against removal.
Wolfe argued that it was hypocritical for board members to remove the state flag when they just got back from attending all-black meetings of elected officials that barred white participants, such as the Black Supervisors Association. He pointed out that they voted to spend taxpayers money to support such racist organizations and to pay their membership fees.
