On July 10, 2012, the Mississippi Board of Medical Licensure entered an order in the matter of Dr. Arnold Smith and his license to practice medicine.

A single line summary of the Board's action is all that is available on the Board's website. It reads:

July 10, 2012

Ralph Arnold Smith, Jr., M.D.
Greenwood, MS
Order served prohibiting practice pending
independent mental exam.

This appears to be equivalent to a suspension of Dr. Smith's license for the time being. But it's not clear that this will have any practical effect, since Dr. Smith is presently in custody at the Leflore County jail.
