Yesterday, we learned that Leflore County did not meet the deadline for printing absentee ballots, which was September 22nd. The election law places that duty upon Leflore County Election Commission Chairman Edward Course.
Circuit Clerk Elmus Stockstill just informed me that the ballots will be printed by Monday, but that in the meanwhile, anybody who wants to vote by absentee ballot (and is qualified by law to do so) may come to the court house, and he will print off a special non-scannable ballot from the computer to use as an absentee ballot.
So absentee balloting can begin today, but the official ballots won't be printed until Monday.
