Hospital lost $256,109 in December

Today, the Greenwood Leflore Hospital Board of Trustees held its regular monthly meeting.

According to the financial statement released to the press, the Hospital had an overall net loss of $256,109 in December. The loss was much smaller than the $1.48 million loss suffered in November.

The cash balance and equivalents sank by $819,724 during December to $21.3 million.

For the first quarter of the fiscal year, the Hospital has lost $1.92 million and eaten up $3 million in cash and cash equivalents.

According to CFO Dawne Holmes, the Hospital provided charity and bad debt care costing $625,548 for the month of December, for which it will not be paid at all. This has been an ongoing loss that the Hospital provides to the community.

The Board went into executive session and excluded the public and media for 75 minutes.
