Hospital lost $775,000 in February; 3 new COVID-19 cases in Leflore County

Today, the Greenwood Leflore Hospital Board of Trustees held its regular monthly meeting. Afterwards, the Mississippi Department of Health announced there are 3 additional COVID-19 patients in Leflore County, making a total of 4 in all. No details are available on the 3 new cases.

According to the financial statement, the Hospital had an overall net loss of $775,000 in February. The cash balance and equivalents fell by $747,549 for the month.

The net loss includes $482,885 in depreciation. Charity/bad debt care costs were $407,192 for February.

For the first five months of the fiscal year, the Hospital lost $2.89 million overall and has eaten up $3.74 million in cash and cash equivalents.

Interim CEO Gary Marchand gave an extensive briefing to the press on the Hospital's planning and activities regarding the COVID-19 outbreak.

The Board went into executive session and excluded the public and media for 74 minutes.
