Moments ago, the Greenwood City Council voted to remove the state flag from all city buildings and properties.
Council member David Jordan made the motion to remove the flag. The council members had about 15 minutes of cordial discussion.
The vote was 6 in favor and 1 opposed.
All seven council members were present. The meeting room was filled to capacity. Members of the public were not allowed to speak on the matter. One or two audience members held up pro-flag signs. The audience was well behaved and sat quietly.
Voting against the resolution was Johnny Jennings.
All the rest of the council members voted to take the flag down.
