Mask Mandate renewed by Leflore County Supervisors

Monday, March 8, 2021, 6:00 pm News Flash Archive

At today's Supervisor meeting, the Board of Supervisors voted to keep the county-wide mask mandate, which requires citizens to wear masks indoors in public places.

The Board rejected a suggestion by Sam Abraham, District 1 member, to include a review of the mandate in a month.

Therefore, the mandate will continue indefinitely with no review date specified.

Mr. Abraham cast the lone vote against the renewal of the mask mandate.

Last Wednesday, Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves rescinded the state-wide mask mandate, and allowed businesses to reopen at 100% capacity.

However, residents of Leflore County and Greenwood are still under mask mandates imposed by the city and county governments.

The discussion of the mask mandate begins at 1 minute 38 seconds into the meeting.
