This afternoon, Patricia Young filed an election contest against Reginald Freeman who was elected as Mayor of Itta Bena at the June 8 municipal election by a 5 vote margin.

According to the certified election returns, Freeman received 199 votes, Young received 194 votes, and Henry Purnell received 62 votes.

Young is represented by Sam Begley, a well respected election attorney from Jackson, Mississippi. Today was the deadline for filing election contests for the June 8 municipal elections.

Kenderick Cox of Greenwood announced today on Facebook that he would not be contesting Greenwood Mayor Carolyn McAdams' election.
