Greenwood Leflore Hospital transferring its patients out due to sewage line issues

Monday, August 15, 2022, 4:47 pm News Flash Archive

Greenwood Leflore Hospital is discharging or transferring all its patients to other facilities, after a sewage line failure earlier today.

Originally, the hospital closed all its clinics that are housed at the hospital itself due to the sewage issue. But a little after 4:30 pm, the announcement was updated:

Greenwood Leflore Hospital continues to experience a hospital-wide issue with a defective sewage line. Currently we are discharging or transferring all inpatients. For the safety of our patients and staff, until further notice we are canceling surgeries and outpatient testing. Appointments for clinics that are located inside the hospital building have also been canceled...

Earlier today, a row of portable restroom facilities was lined up on the grounds outside the hospital. At least two high-pressure sewage pumper trucks were present in the parking lot.

Ambulance services have been instructed not to deliver any patients to the hospital at this time.
