Yesterday, Ryan Burks escaped from the Carroll County Regional Correctional Facility (CCRCF), allegedly with the help of a female kitchen worker at the jail. The two fled in the female's vehicle, and were quickly found and arrested in Lafayette County.

Late last evening, the Carroll County sheriff's department released additional information in this incident. Burks has been charged with Felony Fleeing and Possession of a Firearm by a Felon. He has been transferred from CCRCF to the Mississippi Department of Corrections.
Burks had served 18 years of his 30 year sentence, and was scheduled for release in 2034.
Burks' alleged female accomplice is identified as CCRCF kitchen worker Leslie Nichole McNeal, aged 44 of Grenada. She has been charged with Felony Aiding and Abetting. She remained in jail as of last evening.
