Leflore County Board of Supervisors

The Board of Supervisors is the governing body of Leflore County. It consists of five members elected by the people every four years. The Board generally meets three times each month at the Court House.

The Board handled a zoning variance request. The Board voted to approve repayment of filing fees to Willie Perkins for two mass tort cases he had filed. A discussion was held with Cablesouth Media regarding the use of county easements to lay fiber optic cables. NCPDD's Steve Russell presented several matters relating to the Viking Range project. An erroneous tax sale was cancelled. T.W. Cooper presented some Emergency Response related business. A grant was made to the Morgan City Outreach Inc. to promote a city celebration. The Board heard many objections to the rezoning of Enoch Florence's Itta Bena property for multi-family low income dwellings. The Board also heard from Mr. Florence and Roosevelt Sanders who was promoting the project. In the end, the Board voted to rescind the rezoning application. The Board held an Executive Session to discuss possible litigation relating to a dispute over the security and computer system being installed in the Justice Center project. No action was taken on the matter.
