Leflore County Board of Supervisors

The Board of Supervisors is the governing body of Leflore County. It consists of five members elected by the people every four years. The Board generally meets three times each month at the Court House.

The Board heard a presentation from the Highway Patrol about its search for a location in Leflore County for a new patrol district headquarters. Beth Henderson requested $5000 in support for the annual July 4 celebration. Itta Bena Mayor Thelma Collins presented requests for assistance from her community. County Judge Solomon Osborne presented requests for money to operate a drug court and education program in the Leflore County Juvenile Detention Facility. Several items relating to the Viking Dishwasher Plant grant were disposed of. The Board discussed bringing the pay for Leflore County Deputy Sheriff officials into line with the pay received by Greenwood Police Department officers. Money had to be transferred to make up shortfalls in the Incubator Project account. The litigation and lease regarding the closed Florewood Living Plantation state park were discussed.
