Leflore County Board of Supervisors

The Board of Supervisors is the governing body of Leflore County. It consists of five members elected by the people every four years. The Board generally meets three times each month at the Court House.

The Board heard from Dean Pennington, director of the Yazoo Mississippi Delta Joint Water Management District. Angela Curry presented a request for the county to pay for part of the cost of running a gas line in the industrial park for the new peanut processing facility. Other items related to payments for the project were also approved. Sam Abraham was re-appointed to the MDCC Board of Trustees as representative of Leflore County. Sheriff Banks presented items relating to the county jail administration for approval. The price charged for housing inmates in the county jail was increased to $35 per day. A flood prevention ordinance was approved. The Airport was authorized to purchase a fire truck. The county engineer presented information about the Viking Bypass Road project and another drainage project.
