A preliminary hearing was held in Leflore County Court for Dr. Arnold Smith, accused of two counts of conspiracy to commit murder and one count of capital murder in an attempt against the life of local attorney Lee Abraham. Judge Kevin Adams presided. Greenwood police Detective Jeff Byars was examined by the DA's office, and he presented photographs and a video that depicted the weapon used, the ski mask, and an audio/video recording of Dr. Smith and Keaira Byrd speaking about their plan to assassinate Mr. Abraham.
