Greenwood City Council

The Greenwood City Council is the legislative body that governs the city of Greenwood. The executive power is held by a Mayor who is elected by the people every four years, along with the seven council members. The City Council generally meets twice each month at the City Hall.

Mayor Carolyn McAdams did not attend due to her COVID-19 illness. The Council discussed the Suddenlink crisis. Attorney Don Brock wrote a letter pointing out alleged franchise violations by Suddenlink. The Council passed a resolution requesting that the Greenwood Tourism Commission be extended by the state legislature until at least 2025. The Council voted to pay Greater Delta Broadcasting $1000 in advertising during the MVSU basketball games. A discussion took place regarding the construction of an apartment complex on George Street.
