Greenwood City Council

The Greenwood City Council is the legislative body that governs the city of Greenwood. The executive power is held by a Mayor who is elected by the people every four years, along with the seven council members. The City Council generally meets twice each month at the City Hall.

The Council heard from Ramron Daniels requesting a donation to the Juneteenth Festival. A proposal to provide recycling services for wood products was presented. The Council approved a $3000 donation to the litter campaign.

The Council adopted an ordinance extending the mandatory mask law on residents and business owners to June 15. All members of the council spoke in favor of extending the mandate except Mrs. Lisa Cookston.

Mrs. Cookston voted against the ordinance. Messrs. Jordan, Palmer, Powell, McCoy, Stevenson, and Jennings voted to impose the extended mandate.
