Greenwood City Council

The Greenwood City Council is the legislative body that governs the city of Greenwood. The executive power is held by a Mayor who is elected by the people every four years, along with the seven council members. The City Council generally meets twice each month at the City Hall.

The council heard from Dr. Jerryl Briggs and Jean Cadney regarding support for MVSU. Channing Hodges appeared to present the Draft Developer Agreement for his Ramada Inn redevelopment project on the old Ramada Inn site. A hearing on dilapidated properties was held. Minnie Roby was reappointed as clerk of the council. The council approved the hospital's request to sell certain properties and houses that are no longer required for hospital use. The council approved issuing a Request for Proposals for leasing the hospital to another larger medical entity. The council approved going forward with a tax increment financing scheme for the Ramada Inn redevelopment project. A public hearing will now be required for the tax financing plan to move forward for final approval.
