Friday, July 15, Carroll County Justice Court Judge Tinesha Erve-Earnest conducted a preliminary hearing for Thomas Perry III. The hearing was held at the Vaiden courthouse.
Perry was previously charged with the first degree murder of his 6 year old brother, Orlando "King" Pittman. He was also charged with arson and felony animal cruelty.
An autopsy revealed that Pittman died of multiple stab wounds. The family's dog was also stabbed to death, and the family's apartment was set on fire with both victims' dead bodies hidden in a closet.
Judge Earnest bound Perry over to the grand jury pending indictment.
Perry's public defender, Rusty Harlow, requested that Perry's bond be lowered from $1.2 million previously set by Judge Earnest, but his request was denied.
Perry is being held at the Carroll Montgomery Regional Correctional Facility.
