As first reported this morning by the Greenwood Commonwealth, the school board failed to reinstate former Greenwood Leflore County School Superintendent James Johnson-Waldington.
After a nearly three-hour long hearing, the board was deadlocked two to two on a motion to reinstate him, so the motion failed, and his dismissal stands.

Prior to yesterday's hearing, no reasons had been provided to the public about why Johnson-Waldington was suddenly fired by the board at its June 6 meeting. He had only served 11 months of his contract when the board terminated him.
That's part of the reason that Johnson-Waldington asked for a public hearing on the matter. He testified extensively in answer to the allegations that had been provided to him after the board voted to terminate him without any notice.
Since the board didn't reinstate him, his next move is to file suit to overturn the school board's decision. That will probably happen in the Leflore County Chancery Court shortly.
